Firefighters battle large brush fire in Allegheny Township

Allegheny Township, Pa. – Multiple fire companies battled a brush fire in the 4 o’clock hour Tuesday along Finnin Park in Allegheny Township utilizing ATV’S to get to heavily wooded areas and extinguish the fires.

Sources reported there were no structures involved and crews were able to knock the fires down by 5:45 and remained on scene near the edges of the fire lines until approximately 7:00 pm.

Recent dry weather has made wooded areas prime locations for brush fires in the Alle-Kiski Valley. Typically, this time of year residents should be attentive to outdoor recreational fires as slight winds can help fuel small fires into relatively larger fires – especially in wooded rural areas.
