Fire damages estimated at $100,000, woman charged with 4 felonies

Armstrong County, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police have charged a Kittanning woman with arson after allegedly setting fire to a residence located along Hard Tack Road in Kittanning Township Saturday afternoon.

PSP Kittanning investigated a suspicious fire in Kittanning Township that caused an estimated $100,000 in damages to the structure and belongings to two victims from Ford City. PSP Trooper Maurer said one domesticated cat died and a second was seriously injured in the fire. Police identified the suspect as Rebbica Lynn McElroy, age 32 of Kittanning.

REBBICA LYNN MCELROY faces the following charges: F2 ARSON-RECKLESS PLACE PERSONS DANGER, F3 ARSON – PERSON PROP EXC $5000, F1 ARSON-DANGER OF DEATH OR BODILY INJURY, M1 CRUELTY TO ANIMALS and F3 CRIMINAL MISCHIEF/DAMAGE PROP INTENT, RECKLESS, OR NEGLIGENCE.

McElroy failed to post a $50,000 bond and was sent to the Armstrong County Jail. No hearing information is currently available.
