Fatal crash in Armstrong County closes SR 56 in Kiski Township

Kiski Township, Pa. – A State Police reconstruction team is on scene in Kiski Township after an early morning fatal crash that forced the closure of SR 56 between Balsiger Road and Ridge Road just after 9:00 Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred on a straight stretch of highway as a tri-axle dump truck hauling coal collided with a landscaping truck traveling east on SR 56. Armstrong County Deputy Coroner Bob Bauer was on scene investigating.

Coroner Bauer identified the victim as 35 year-old Michael Shane Bailie of Vandergrift who was a passenger in the small dump truck.

One of the operators involved in the crash was taken by EMS to Forbes Regional Hospital with moderate to severe injuries. Apollo Station #20, along with the Kiski Township Fire Department are on scene for traffic control.
