Driver killed in car crash after fleeing routine traffic stop in Armstrong County

Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County, Pa. – One man has died as a result of a police pursuit that ended in a crash on Route 422 Friday evening, officials said. He has been identified as Albert L. Perry age 26 of Cleveland, Ohio.

Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers said the pursuit started when an Elderton Borough officer attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and crashed, throwing the driver from the vehicle.

Coroner Myers said the lone occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.

SR 422 remained open as R&I (reconstruction) out of Butler barracks arrived on scene. Nighttime traffic past the scene was very light and the roadway was wet at the time of the crash.
