Crash victims flown from scene in Rayburn Township Thursday afternoon

Rayburn Township, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police in Kittanning were on scene of a head-on crash in Rayburn Township about 2:30 pm after one car crossed the center-line striking a white SUV driven by an operator from Barker Transportation on SR 85 in Kittanning.

Tpr. Dave Endlich said a red sedan occupied by two juveniles was traveling North on SR 28 when the crash occurred striking a SUV traveling Southbound towards Kittanning. All three individuals were flown from the scene with unknown injuries. Tpr. Endlich said the patients were conscious and alert at the time of transport. The cause of the crash appears to be speed related, however the investigation is still ongoing. The incident occurred at the crest of a hill near Armstrong Creek Road and Poverty Hill Road.

At the scene: The red sedan was mangled from the impact which separated the engine from the vehicle. A front axle was seen laying in snow along the southside berm of the roadway. The white SUV from Barker Transportation sustained heavy front impact damages.

Traffic was diverted at the intersection of SR 85 & 28 by Rayburn VFD who also assisted at the scene with part debris cleanup. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and the engine was loaded onto a separate roll-off by Terry’s Towing of Kittanning.
