Plum, Allegheny County – Two nights ago, at approximately 9:58 p.m., the Plum Police and paramedics responded to the 2000 block of Golden Mile Highway (SR 286) for a motor vehicle collision.
There they found a two vehicle, head on collision. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and a second was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit and Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. It was determined that the at-fault driver was operating a Toyota Corolla in the southbound lane of travel when it crossed the center line and collided with a Hyundai Sante Fe travelling northbound.
The at-fault driver was a 25-year-old male and the sole occupant of his vehicle. The Hyundai was operated by a 43-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. There were two passengers in her car, a 17-year-old male who was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead, and a 19-year-old female who survived.
The 17-year-old male was not related to the driver. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be involved at this time. The investigation is ongoing. At the conclusion, the District Attorney’s office will determine what charges will be filed.
