Plum Borough, Allegheny County – On August 6, 2017, the Plum Borough Police responded to a two car collision on Route 286 near the Pine Valley Plaza.
As a result of the crash, 43-year-old Beth Ann Beveridge and 17-year-old Michael Zier were killed. A third person was also injured and taken to a local hospital. The Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit was requested to assist in the investigation.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that 25-year-old Edward Cass, III was responsible for the collision and was impaired when it occurred. Today, a warrant for Cass was
obtained and he subsequently turned himself in to police. He is currently housed at the Allegheny County Jail awaiting arraignment. No arrest photo is available at this time.
Cass is charged with two counts of homicide by Vehicle, two counts of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, DUI, homicide by vehicle while DUI, reckless driving, possession of controlled substances, and other various traffic offenses.
