Burrell HS student found deceased in a car in Allegheny Township

Allegheny Township, Pa. – Police in Lower Burrell and Allegheny Township responded to Watters Road just after 1:00 am Thursday morning for an individual inside a vehicle who was found unresponsive.

Allegheny Township Police Chief John Fontaine said early this morning police investigated the scene after the individual was expected to be home. Police said there were no signs of violence or an obvious cause of death. Chief Fontaine said it appeared the car drifted off a driveway on Watters Road near Melwood Road. CPR was performed but to no avail. Westmoreland County Detectives investigated the scene along with the County Coroner’s office.

AKNVEWS.COM confirmed with the Westmoreland County Coroner’s office an autopsy was being performed on 17 year-old Laura Hoover, a student at Lower Burrell High School.

“The Burrell School District community is saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of a student. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and the class of 2016. Our crisis team has been activated and is available to assist students, staff and the community as we cope with this loss.”
