Allegheny Township, Pa. – On November 7th, Rich and Catherine Hooks lost their home and all their possessions in a fire in Vandergrift. Rich, a Life member at the Markle VFD, served nearly 40 years as an active firefighter. Catherine was home with her daughter at the time of the fire and were able to escape the fire without injury.

On Sunday, the Markle VFD, Allegheny Township VFD and the Allegheny Township Public Safety Director teamed up to hold the Spaghetti Dinner Benefit for the Hooks Family. Markle Fire Chief Jim Rearick said the attendance for the benefit may have been impacted by the warm weather, however the number of people attending was steady throughout the day. Many people came in for takeout or donated baskets for a Chinese Auction.

All proceeds were donated to the Hooks Family. Both fire departments and Allegheny Township would like to thank the public and the areas supporting fire departments for their contribution to the Hooks family.
