Arnold, Pa. – (From Facebook) We would like to apologize for any inconvenience that anyone experienced, due to the canceling of Saturday’s Rockin’ Roosevelt Benefit Concert.
Obviously, the weather forecasters got it horribly wrong. We keep a close eye, on the weather, for each & every event, that we present. After consulting with our sound people & a city official, we made the decision to cancel the concert.
Nothing in the weather forecasts, up to the starting time, of the concert, would have changed our decision. It was strictly a public safety issue. We have run our concerts through rain, snow, sleet & hail, but lightning is another issue. One of the unique issues of staging an event at Roosevelt Park, is the skating rink, which floods with heavy rain.
This almost caused us to shorten last year’s concert. This is where the electric cables cross, from the sound board to the stage. Also, the central area of the park also has those cables & is tree laden. Many spectators, all of our vendors, the park’s tot lot & our acoustic stage are all located in that area, which also poses a severe hazard, if lighting occurs.
Our group is very experienced in running fairly large scale events & our first obligation in putting on these events is safety. We should know shortly if we will be able to reschedule the concert. We appreciate your support. Without you folks none of this happens. As an addendum, none of the performers asked to opt out of the concert because of the weather & we also appreciate all of what they do for us.
The concert is to be rescheduled at a later time.
