Armstrong County woman accused of trying to kill her husband with an ax

Manor Township, Pa. – An Armstrong County woman is accused of attacking her husband with an ax is identified as Melanie Sue Snyder, age 41 of Manor Township.

Snyder faces 3 felonies that include criminal attempt and aggravated assault stemming from an attack that investigators said she carried out in front of her 3 children. The Armstrong County District Attorney Scott Andressi describes the weapon as an 18″ camp ax.

The victim, Thomas Snyder was found laying in his bed with injuries to his neck and head. Police say there was a large amount of blood on the victim and bed. Thomas Snyder was flown from the scene and transported to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. The incident occurred at 110 Garretts Run Road at about 10:30 am Thursday morning.

Melanie Snyder was arraigned and is incarcerated at the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
