Alle-Kiski Valley residents hit hard by storm damage-flooding

Alle-Kiski Valley, Pa. – Heavy rains wrecked havoc on the Alle-Kiski Valley over night causing power outages in Tarentum, closed roadways throughout the area and hundreds of homes getting hit by flood waters in basements.

Fire companies throughout the area were busy pumping out basements in hard hit areas of Cheswick, Springdale and New Kensington while road closures were reported in New Kensington near the 9th Street bridge and a road closure on Riddle Run Road in Springdale Township after a tree and wires came down across the roadway early Saturday morning. The roadway reopened about 10:45 am.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh reported 2-3″ of rain fell overnight. A flood warning for the area remains in effect until 1:45 pm Saturday. Some locations that will experience flooding include…
