87 year-old woman dies in Jeannette house fire

Jeanette, Pa. – Firefighters in Jeanette battled multiple house fires (row houses) located on South 7th Street in Jeannette about 2:00 pm Monday afternoon after multiple witnesses contacted 911.

Westmoreland County Coroner, Kenneth A. Bacha, has released the following information on a residential structure fire in the city of Jeannette. Killed in the fire incident was Shirley B. Kocherhans, an 87 y/o female who resided at 10 South 7th Street.

Firefighters responded to the scene and discovered the decedent deceased within her residence. Deputy Coroner Jonathon Jenkins pronounced the decedent dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed by Dr. Cyril H. Wecht and Pathology Associates on April 10, 2018. Cause and manner of death will be pending official autopsy and toxicology results.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
