2 Vehicles crash on railroad tracks in Oklahoma Borough; then train hits vehicle/s

Oklahoma Borough, Pa. – Three people were injured, one of those a pediatric patient with a head laceration, after a 2-vehicle crash on the railroad tracks near Nasers Food Store in Oaklahoma Borough early Saturday afternoon.

State Police on scene told AKVNEWS the crossing gates were down as one vehicle traveling Orr Avenue and another vehicle traveling South past Nasers collided on the railroad tracks as a Norfold Southern train was approaching the crossing. State Police Tpr. John Corna said the engine did hit the vehicle/s on the crossing.

It’s believed the vehicle weres tangled together enough that they couldn’t be pulled apart as the drivers and passenger got clear of the approaching train. Multiple fire crews responded to the scene blocking Orr Avenue , SR 66/819 and the Apollo bridge while police investigated and tow crews responded. Both vehicle were towed from the scene by Kochka & Son Towning of Vandergrift.

The roadway near the scene was shut down for more than an hour.

Fire Crews from North Apollo Borough and Oklahoma provided traffic control at the scene.
